Toutenkamion Group aims to grow Navy business
Among the newcomers at Euronaval 2026 is Toutenkamion Group. Founded in 1936, this family-owned business is recognised as a European leader in the design and manufacture of bespoke mobile units for healthcare and security. It now aims to expand its footprint in the defence sector, thanks to its shelter lineup.

The company owes its current name to a historical event around the time it was acquired: the transport and exhibition of the mummy of Pharaoh Tutankhamun for restoration in France. Originating as a small coachbuilding workshop, the Loiret-based SME now employs nearly 400 staff and continues to grow. Positioning itself as a mobility player, Toutenkamion draws on various specialised skills. It reinforced its presence in the defence sector by acquiring Euro-Shelter in 2019. This firm specialises in the design, development, and manufacture of technical shelters and aluminium enclosures, supplying almost exclusively the military sector with mobile command posts, radar platforms, and mobile medical units.
Armed with these new capabilities, Toutenkamion intends to expand its business with the armed forces, particularly the Navy. “The armed forces want to be able to change onboard equipment depending on the mission, and the shelter is a true modularity solution,” explains Fabrice Bourdais, Head of Defence Activity within the group. “We make logistic containers for land, air, or naval defence equipment, as well as—and this is the bulk of our business—command or communication post shelters, and radar platforms with significant EMP protection.”
In these cases, Toutenkamion designs an electromagnetically sealed aluminium shelter (a Faraday cage). The art of electromagnetic shielding lies in continuously welding the exterior walls of the shelter and managing apertures so that electrical continuity is maintained once the door is closed. The goal of this Faraday cage is to protect operators and equipment from waves emitted by a radar antenna, as well as to prevent any disruption or compromise in an electronic warfare environment.
“We are practically the only ones in Europe who have known how to manufacture them for over 40 years, combining mechanical resistance skills with electromagnetic compatibility expertise,” Bourdais notes. He also cites a naval application his group recently supplied: creating doors for a large onboard radar featuring this same technology.
One of the major advantages of the shelter is that it can be placed anywhere: on a truck, at a base or on the deck of a ship. Aluminium construction keeps the overall weight down, while ensuring high rigidity. The company is convinced this temporary “extra room” has its place within the Navy.
More broadly, thanks to its integrated industrial capabilities, Toutenkamion Group is offering its defence-acquired expertise for naval programmes: engineering, welding, large-scale complex structures and qualified sub-assemblies.
