Thales and Italy’s ELT Group have announced the creation of Thales ELT Naval EW Solutions, a joint venture equally owned by the two companies and dedicated to naval electronic warfare for export markets. The aim is to combine their product portfolios and strengthen their position in a rapidly growing market.

The new company will build on more than twenty years of cooperation between the two groups, notably within the SIGEN consortium, which supports the French and Italian navies. It will offer an integrated range of electronic support measures (ESM) and electronic countermeasures (ECM) designed to enhance the protection of naval platforms and the safety of their crews.

This industrial alliance aims to provide international customers with a complementary range of solutions covering several aspects of naval electronic warfare, from the detection and identification of enemy emissions to the deployment of countermeasures. In its initial phase, the joint venture will be chaired by Matthieu Bouquet, appointed by Thales, whilst Gianni Maratta, nominated by ELT Group, will serve as CEO.
