For the French Navy’s FDI defence and intervention frigates built by Naval Group, the increase to 32 MBDA Aster missiles is confirmed, with a phased deployment. The number of vertical launchers is doubled. Integration will be native from the third FDI onwards. The first two, one of which is already in service, will be retrofitted.

Naval Group recalls that the FDI is designed as a scalable platform and says it is committed to integrating this 32-Aster capability as quickly as possible to increase lethality, according to Pierre Eric Pommellet, Naval Group Chairman and CEO.
