“We’re here to showcase our solutions developed specifically for drones and to raise our profile in this new sector,” explains Hakim Taazibt, R&T and Chief Innovation Officer at Roxel. Models of its systems – DAEDALUS, HALO and PHENIX – are on display at the company’s stand.

Long-standing expertise serving new applications

As the European leader in missile propulsion, Roxel designs, develops and manufactures solid rocket motors and associated equipment for different types of propulsion system. The company works on the various propulsion stages of the EXOCET anti-ship missile, ASTER surface-to-air and sea-to-air missiles, the MdCN naval cruise missile, as well as on the propulsion system for France’s airborne nuclear deterrent with MBDA’s ASMP-A missile. Its clients include major groups within the French defence industrial and technological base (DITB), as well as several European and international players.

Roxel says its new solutions will simplify the deployment of drones of various sizes. “In practical terms, these systems enable drones to be accelerated without the need for a catapult,” Hakim Taazibt observes. The differences between its DAEDALUS, HALO and PHENIX solutions lie mainly in their dimensions, which are tailored to increasingly large drones. Compared with traditional launch systems, propulsion enables simpler and faster deployment and, for certain aircraft, fuel savings during take-off.

With this new range, Roxel is anticipating evolving operational needs and thereby expanding its position in a rapidly changing drone market. The company’s commercial focus is on France and its partner countries.
