Apollo Generators: from energy autonomy to seabed expertise
Specialising in autonomous power systems, Apollo Generators is developing a new range of radioisotope power sources in France. Through Apollo Subsea, the group now combines its energy solutions with services for the exploration, inspection and maintenance of offshore infrastructure.

Apollo Generators’ radioisotope power systems (RPSs) are designed to enhance the safety, resilience and operational capabilities of critical subsea and maritime infrastructure. The group’s current systems are designed to provide a continuous power supply – for over twelve months, without human intervention – to networks of acoustic sensors, subsea communication systems and AUVs (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles).
Over fifteen years of autonomy
The group is now developing a new generation of RPS with a service life of fifteen years or more, which will be manufactured in France. Its ambition is to establish a sovereign production chain for isotopes and radioisotope power sources capable of meeting increasingly vital underwater energy needs.
This approach addresses a dual challenge, both civil and military: on the one hand, to enhance knowledge of and surveillance over underwater areas and strategic infrastructure; and on the other, to provide more power to submarine fibre-optic cables.
Apollo Subsea: from energy to operations
Apollo Subsea brings underwater intervention capabilities to the group. The company offers a comprehensive range of services, benefiting both the group’s own systems and those of third-party operators: seabed exploration and mapping, infrastructure deployment and inspection, surveillance, maintenance and recovery of equipment at sea.
To develop these activities, Apollo Subsea draws on the expertise of Nicolas Vincent and his team, who have 30 years’ experience in conducting complex maritime and subsea operations at The Deep Company.
A factory project near Toulon to be launched in 2027
In 2027, Apollo Generators and Apollo Subsea plan to take a further step forward with the acquisition of a latest-generation AUV and the establishment of a factory near Toulon, in the Var department. Situated at the heart of a strategic naval ecosystem, this site will be dedicated to producing the new generation of RPS, as well as housing, maintaining and deploying the group’s equipment.
“Our ambition is to build an industrial and operational capacity in France that combines isotope production, long-duration energy autonomy and underwater operations, to support the security of critical French and European infrastructure, and to promote innovation in underwater telecommunications,” declares Robin Lebeau, CEO of Apollo Generators.
