Out goes PowerPoint, In comes AI

© …

Artificial intelligence (AI) is making its way into every field, including DCI’s training programmes and exercises. One area where it is already being put to use is operational planning and command and control (C2), through the Operational Command Academy (OCA) established in 2025.

Of the 80 training courses on offer, some give officers the opportunity to use AI to process orders, analyse terrain and enemy orders of battle, interpret satellite imagery and assess different options when planning operations. Trainees test a range of tools developed by industry partners, including

Comand AI, Thales, Airbus, LVCim and Safran.AI. This hands-on experience helps them understand how AI can support decision-making in multi-domain operations (MDOs), at every level of command, from tactical to operational and strategic.
The partnerships also benefit industry, providing companies with feedback from trainees and operational personnel to help them develop and refine their solutions through short cycles.
